Questions

The awkward ones, answered.

These are the questions a careful buyer asks silently and then decides on without ever raising. We would rather answer them here than lose the work to a guess.

What does it cost?

We do not publish rates, and we would rather explain that than let you assume it is a tactic to get you on a call. A price with no scope attached is a guess, and once you have budgeted against a guess it is worse than having had no number at all. So tell us your budget early, even if you think it is too low. We will tell you what is achievable at that number, or tell you that we are not the right fit. The three ways we work are set out on the services page.

What if the work is bad, or late?

Defect cover runs ninety days after handover at no charge: defects inside the agreed scope, not new features. On fixed-scope work the price we quote is the price you pay, so if we misjudge the estimate that comes out of our time rather than your budget. And you can stop after any stage, paying only for what is done and keeping everything built to that point.

Will we be locked in?

No, and this is itemised rather than asserted. See what handover actually contains. The short version: the repository is yours, the accounts are in your company's name, the credentials are in your vault, and there is a free call with whoever takes over next, whenever that happens.

Can you deliver this, and by when?

Sometimes not, and we will tell you on the first call, not three months in. There are projects we turn down because we are the wrong shape for them. Our own products take up part of the week, so the start date depends on the size of the job. Ask on the first call and we will tell you when we could begin, instead of booking you in and going quiet.

Who supports it after launch?

We do. Defect cover is free for ninety days; beyond that, ongoing work runs monthly on terms that suit how much you actually need. Because you own everything, you are never trapped if your needs change or you would rather use someone else.

Is our idea safe with you?

Happy to sign your NDA before you tell us anything. Send yours over and we will sign it.

What happens to our customers' data?

Our privacy policy covers visitors to this website. When we work on your system we are handling your customers' data as an operator on your behalf, and that is governed by the project agreement. The terms are the same ones we would want if it were our data: access limited to what the work actually requires, no copies kept on our machines after handover, no use of it for anything but the work, and POPIA operator obligations written into the contract, not assumed.

Have you actually shipped your own product?

Yes. Lumarix opened in August 2026: a South African ERP running on Dachshund, priced at R250 per user per month, that anyone can create an account on.

Still unsure

Ask us the one we have not answered.

If there is a question here you would want answered before spending money, send it. We will answer it directly, and if it is a good one it ends up on this page.
